This is a full-time role for a Business Development Manager – Clinical Trial Supply. The role is on-site, located in Edison, NJ. The Business Development Manager will develop strategic business opportunities, manage client relationships, and oversee clinical trial supply operations. Responsibilities include identifying new business prospects, negotiating contracts, supporting marketing initiatives, and ensuring the effective management of clinical trial supplies.
Position SummaryThe Business Development Manager – Comparator Sourcing and Packaging Services will lead the growth and client acquisition strategy for JRS’s Comparator Drug Supply Chain and Clinical Packaging Division. This role requires a dynamic professional with a strong understanding of clinical trial supply management, global pharmaceutical sourcing, packaging workflows, and GDP/GMP compliance. You will be responsible for expanding partnerships with pharma, biotech, and CRO clients, developing strategic accounts, and coordinating with internal QA, Project Management, and Operations teams to deliver tailored service solutions.
Key Responsibilities Business Development & Client Acquisition- Identify, qualify, and secure new business opportunities in comparator sourcing, clinical packaging, labeling, storage, and distribution.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with pharmaceutical sponsors, CROs, and CMOs.
- Lead RFP/RFQ processes, pricing proposals, and bid responses aligned with company objectives.
- Represent JRS at industry conferences, exhibitions, and networking events (e.g., CTS, DIA, Expopharm, CPhI, etc.).
- Collaborate with senior management to develop go-to-market strategies and sales targets.
- Coordinate with global sourcing partners to ensure comparator drug availability, documentation, and batch traceability.
- Review supplier qualification, DSCSA/traceability compliance, import/export controls, and quality documentation.
- Support EPCIS and GLN-based transaction partner registration and vendor onboarding.
- Work closely with Operations to propose packaging solutions—primary/secondary packaging, randomization, label design, and multilingual compliance.
- Ensure packaging activities align with Good Manufacturing and Good Distribution Practices (GMP/GDP).
- Communicate timelines, budgets, and deliverables to clients with precision and transparency.
- Maintain regular communication with clients to ensure satisfaction and identify new service opportunities.
- Manage contracts, renewals, and business forecasts.
- Utilize CRM tools (Microsoft SharePoint, Hub Spot, or equivalent) for pipeline tracking and reporting.
- Partner with internal Quality Assurance, Regulatory Affairs, Logistics, and Finance teams for seamless project execution.
- Support audit readiness, CAPA coordination, and client qualification questionnaires when required.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Life Sciences, Pharmacy, Biotechnology, or Business Administration.
- Minimum 5+ years of experience in Business Development / Sales / Project Management within clinical trial supply, pharmaceutical sourcing, or packaging services.
- Strong understanding of clinical supply chain processes, comparator sourcing regulations, and cGMP/GDP/DSCSA compliance.
- Proven success in international client acquisition and relationship management.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally (up to 25–30%).
