This Contract to Hire position is based in Edison, NJ, and will be undertaken on a dedicated project timeline.
OverviewActalent is seeking a highly experienced Mechanical Superintendent with over 10 years in mechanical construction, mainly in industrial, healthcare, or pharmaceutical settings. The role focuses on overseeing mechanical systems installations, including chillers, HVAC systems, ductwork, and related equipment; interpreting mechanical drawings; and managing union mechanical subcontractors to meet schedules and budgets.
Responsibilities- Report to the Project Director & Director of Operations, supervised by the Project Manager and Senior Superintendent.
- Conduct daily job site inspections to ensure work completion according to designs, specifications, and industry standards.
- Complete construction reports and review contractor billing and in‑service reports.
- Provide evaluations of contractors and vendors during the active construction phase.
- Assistance in completion of project close‑out reports.
- Perform on‑call duties for emergent weather‑related outages.
- Participate in bid evaluations and contractor selection processes.
- Complete necessary training and qualify as a Tag Holder in the Industry Tagging System when required.
- Assist with permit strategy development, review engineering deliverables, and prepare applications for submission and follow‑up.
- Support permitting work for all regulatory agencies at federal, state, and municipal levels.
- Visit construction sites, complete site safety training, and adhere to site safety rules.
- Supervise field work for employees or subcontractors as a field contractor supervisor.
Skills & Qualifications
- Minimum of 10 years as a Mechanical Superintendent for a general contractor or mechanical subcontractor.
- Proficient in mechanical construction, especially industrial, healthcare, or pharmaceutical sectors.
- Strong ability to read mechanical drawings and manage union mechanical subcontractors.
- Experience in construction supervision and crew management.
- Ability to read schematics and design drawings.
- Knowledge of specifications, contract enforcement, applicable technical standards, OSHA, and other regulatory statutes.
Contract to Hire position based in Edison, NJ.
Pay & BenefitsPay range: $50.00–$77.00 per hour.
