Job Overview
X-Ray Technologist - Full Time at JFK University Medical Center, Edison, New Jersey. The X-ray Technologist is responsible for obtaining diagnostic radiographic examinations and ensuring patient safety while operating imaging equipment.
Responsibilities- Position diagnostic radiographic examinations by positioning patients, providing immobilization devices, shielding, selecting proper technical factors based on individual patient needs, and operating equipment as required for specific procedures.
- Gather relevant information from the medical record, significant others and health care providers to prepare protocols for scanning and patient safety.
- Restrict radiation beam through proper collimation in accordance with ALARA principles, providing safe care to all patients.
- Perform portable X-ray examinations in patient rooms, operating rooms, and emergency rooms.
- Identify patient images with name and MRN, correctly mark image side.
- Process and reconstruct images using available methods.
- Maintain an orderly X-ray room, ordering and maintaining proper supplies as directed by head of the department.
- Prepare radiopaque contrast media and assist providers in administering mixtures to patients.
- Perform administrative duties related to scheduling appointments, patient instruction, record maintenance, reception of patients and other administrative duties as required.
- Assist patients in moving, turning, getting on and off the X-ray tables.
- Adhere to shift schedule including holidays, weekends, overtime as needed, and on-call assignments.
- Follow employee , standards of behavior, attendance, punctuality; greet patients using A.I.D.E.T. standards.
- Use EPIC, PACS, Teletracking System, computer system, patient scheduling and other hospital computer systems as required.
- Identify patient needs and modify care specific to age, culture, language, hearing and visual abilities; communicate at the patient level.
- Adhere to organizational competencies and standards of behavior.
- Perform daily and monthly QA.
- Lift minimum of 25 lbs, push and pull minimum 50 lbs, stand minimum 6 hours per day.
- High School diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- Completion of an AMA-approved school of Radiologic Technology.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient computer skills (Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite platforms).
- American Registry of Radiologic Technologists Certification.
- NJ state license for Diagnostic Radiology (D.R.).
- AHA Basic Health Care Life Support (HCP) Certification within 60 days of entering position.
Starting at $32.92 hourly. Base pay is a reasonable estimate of the minimum base pay for this role in accordance with the New Jersey Pay Transparency Act. Benefits include health, dental, vision, paid leave, tuition reimbursement, and retirement benefits.
