Job Overview

This healthcare professional is a physician assistant (PA) on the neurosurgery staff of the Neuroscience Department primary role involves co-managing patients—diagnosis and treatment—under the supervision of neurosurgical and pain management physicians, following NJ State Department of Health standards.

Responsibilities

Inpatient Responsibilities: Admit patients, perform rounds, consultations, and discharge procedures in cooperation with neurosurgeons. Perform preoperative and postoperative evaluations, assist with surgeries, and perform procedures like shunt taps, lumbar punctures, ventriculostomies, and dressing changes as trained and directed.

Outpatient Responsibilities: Evaluate neurosurgical patients in the emergency room and clinics, assist with outpatient management, and serve as a resource for scheduling and pre-certification processes.

Documentation: Ensure timely and accurate documentation of patient encounters, maintain licensures and certifications, and adhere to hospital standards.

General Responsibilities: Facilitate communication among healthcare providers, educate patients and families, participate in meetings and quality improvement activities, and adhere to organizational standards.

Qualifications

Graduate of an accredited U.S. PA program;
Masters preferred.
At least two years of surgical PA experience; neuroscience experience preferred.
Required Licenses: NJ PA License, NJ C.D.S., DEA.
Preferred

Certifications:

BLS, ACLS.
