Job Overview
Paramedic – Per Diem at Hackensack Meridian Health – Edison, New Jersey. Requisition 2025‑161080. Shift: Day. Status:
Per Diem.
- Respond to emergency calls in a timely manner.
- Assist and support public safety personnel and healthcare providers during patient care.
- Perform patient assessments and utilize critical thinking for treatment decisions.
- Document patient care reports and maintain accurate medical records.
- Operate EMS vehicles safely, perform pre‑transport patient care, and adhere to HMH protocols.
- Participate in quality assurance programs, provide verbal handoffs, and maintain controlled substance documentation.
- Maintain vehicle and equipment condition, dispose of regulated waste safely, and keep supplies stocked.
- Serve as a preceptor or field training officer when assigned.
- Adhere to HMH Code of Conduct, maintain professional conduct, and ensure certifications remain current.
- Other duties as assigned.
- High School diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification and instructor certification.
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification and instructor certification.
- Valid driver’s license from a U.S. state.
- CEVO Certified Emergency Vehicle Operations training or EVOC course within 90 days of hire.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient computer skills (Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite).
- Associate’s degree.
- Mobile Intensive Care Paramedic Certification or National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians – Paramedic Certification or Mobile Intensive Care Nurse Certification.
- AHA Basic Health Care Life Support HCP Certification or BLS Instructor Trainer.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification or ACLS Instructor Certification.
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support Certification or PALS Instructor Certification.
- Valid Driver’s License from a U.S. state.
- CEVO Certified Emergency Vehicle Operator training or EVOC Emergency Vehicle Operations Course within 90 days of hire.
- Physical exertion: lifts and transports patients, carries equipment, climbs in/out of ambulances and tight spaces.
- Minimum of 100 lbs. lift, push, pull. 4 hours of standing per shift.
Minimum hourly rate $37.25. Compensation determined at offer time and may vary based on experience, education, and location.
