Responsibilities
- Properly prepare, place, and maintain telemetry monitoring on patients as ordered, including orienting patients to the telemetry system.
- Identify each cardiac rhythm, obtain and mount the arrhythmia strips and trends with label and interpretation.
- Report cardiac rhythm changes to primary nurse and/or charge nurse; review alarms with interdisciplinary team including MDs, nursing staff, and therapies. Demonstrate effective communication skills when dealing with patients, families, and colleagues.
- Maintain accurate and current Admission/Discharge Sheet, Telemetry Report Sheet, and EKG Log.
- Give report to oncoming Telemetry Tech; communicate with Charge Nurse, Primary Nurse, and Transport when patient requires the telemetry monitoring system to be put on or taken off.
- Precept and orient new Telemetry Techs as needed; answer phones and any other administrative tasks deemed necessary by the Nurse Manager/Charge Nurse.
- Maintain adequate stock and supplies; keep telemetry equipment clean, including telemetry transmitter; maintain accurate and current maintenance log.
- Report equipment malfunction to charge nurse or biomed.
- Perform other duties and/or projects as assigned.
- Adhere to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.
Qualifications
- High School diploma, GED, or equivalent program.
- Successful completion of a cardiac rhythm course within 3 months of hire.
- Documentation of successful training as a monitor technician or equivalent experience.
Compensation
Minimum rate of $20.80 hourly. Pay is determined based on market data, experience, education, and other non‑discriminatory factors.
