Overview
Supervisor, Pharmacy - Full Time (JFK Medical Center) at Hackensack Meridian Health. The Pharmacy Supervisor organizes and manages daily Pharmacy Department operations to ensure efficient, safe and timely patient-focused duties. Acts as liaison between Pharmacy and other healthcare professionals as necessary. Covers for absence of Pharmacy Manager.
Responsibilities- Assists the Pharmacy Management Team with the oversight of the daily operations of the department, and keeps the Assistant Director and Director of Pharmacy apprised of any significant issues.
- Assists the Pharmacy Management Team with ensuring that Pharmacy services are optimal and meet patient and provider needs.
- Identifies and corrects potential problems and performs service recovery as needed.
- Troubleshoots daily interactions and instances that deviate from standard and require oversight or mediation for resolution.
- Assists the Pharmacy Management Team with meeting all regulatory, accreditation and certification requirements.
- Assists the Pharmacy Management Team and the Pharmacy Buyer with maintaining control and security of medication products utilized within the organization.
- Coordinate the activities of staff to ensure appropriate response time.
- Creates and sustains an environment that fosters team member engagement.
- Coaches, counsels and evaluates performance of direct reports.
- Assists the Pharmacy Management Team with policy and procedure development, implementation, review and revision.
- Works with the Assistant Director and/or Director of Pharmacy and other supervisory staff to help coordinate training for and use of technology within the department.
- Consistently arrive at work on time, ensure responsibilities are covered when absent, and arrive at meetings and appointments on time.
- Demonstrates competency in Microsoft Office/Google platform programs required for day-to-day work, including Word/Docs, Excel/Sheets, PowerPoint/Slides and Gmail.
- Participates in recruitment, interviewing, and hiring of pharmacy staff.
- Coordinate and lead team and staff meetings for assigned areas of responsibility.
- Precepts pharmacy students and residents.
- Responsible for communicating medication supply issues to the Pharmacy Buyer.
- Assists with scheduling of the Pharmacy staff.
- Communicates identified staff concerns to the Assistant Director and/or the Director of Pharmacy.
- Tracks, analyzes, and reports on relevant data and metrics as needed and/or requested.
- Develops, recommends and/or implements actions or process improvements as appropriate.
- Complies with all applicable policies, procedures, codes and standards of the organization.
- Other duties and/or projects as assigned.
- Adheres to organizational competencies and standards of behavior.
Education,
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
- BS in Pharmacy.
- Minimum of 5 years experience in Hospital Pharmacy.
Skills And Abilities
Preferred
- Pharm
D preferred. - Experience with managing people and processes.
- In depth understanding of USP 797 and USP 800.
- PGY-1 Residency preferred.
- PGY-2 Administrative Residency preferred.
- Registered Pharmacist License.
