Overview
Experience in application development in legacy technologies such as COBOL, CICS, JCL, VSAM, Easytrieve, IDEAL Datacom, RPG, ASM, MQ (at least some of the technologies, if not all).
Assessment & Strategy- Conduct discovery and assessment of existing mainframe workloads (COBOL, JCL, DB2, VSAM, IMS, CICS).
- Define modernization strategies:
Rehost, Replatform, Refactor, Retire, Replace. - Develop migration roadmaps, risk mitigation, and rollback plans.
- Design target-state architecture for rehosted applications on cloud or distributed platforms.
- Ensure compliance with security, performance, high availability, and disaster recovery requirements.
- Create detailed blueprints for migration patterns and integration with modern systems.
- Design ETL processes for migrating mainframe data Datacom to SQL Server.
- Ensure data integrity and minimal downtime during migration.
- Act as SME for modernization initiatives.
- Provide technical leadership and mentoring to engineering teams.
- Communicate architecture and strategy to stakeholders and executives.
- Participate in code migration and data transformation efforts as part of rehosting.
- Collaborate with architects and cloud teams to support GCP-based modernization.
- Support batch job execution, console monitoring, and production control.
- Understanding of interfacing systems, ongoing projects.
- Provide critical inputs to the migration teams and guidance during the course of migration.
