The Applications Analyst IV gathers business requirements, conducts needs assessments, and develops functional specifications and incorporates builds to ensure that developed information technology solutions support business objectives. This level works independently and acts as a resource for lower‑level Application Analysts.
We have several Applications Analyst positions available, focused on Epic revenue cycle modules as well as Epic modules in the inpatient, outpatient, and ancillary areas. The applications analyst reports to the manager of a designated team supporting the application, and the modules include the following:
Ambulatory, ASAP, IP Willow, Ambulatory Willow, MyChart, Beacon, Beaker, Cupid, Radiant, Epic Care Link, Clin Doc, Orders, Infection Control, OpTime, Anesthesia, Research, Cadence, Prelude, Resolute HB, Resolute PB, Claims, Grand Central, HIM, Coding, Rehab, Stork, Home Health & Hospice, Healthy Planet, Epic Security, and Epic Bridges.
These are hybrid positions requiring on‑site work up to 50% in Edison or at various HMH locations as needed.
Responsibilities- Effectively share knowledge with and mentor lower‑level Application Analysts.
- Take leadership positions when installing or upgrading new and existing applications and components, configuring application settings and validating work performed by lower‑level Application Analysts.
- Take lead in coordinating end‑user support activities.
- Attend, participate in, contribute to, coordinate, and run meetings throughout the facility.
- Provide go‑live support for users on new applications, modules, and functionality.
- Oversee and/or perform analysis of necessary application modifications and work with IT associates and/or the vendor to coordinate the modifications.
- Analyze business/clinical needs and requirements.
- Interpret end‑user requirements by fully discussing potential options and helping clients move toward optimal solutions.
- Evaluate the operational workflow applied to the system.
- Create system specifications from user requirements.
- Create and test test plans for new systems, version upgrades, and any system modifications.
- Document all outcomes of testing, review lower‑level Application Analyst test plans and documented outcomes for consistency and thoroughness.
- Be responsible for application implementation, troubleshooting, and support.
- Present oral and written communications to project teams and other departments.
- Handle the most complex issues.
- Update system, operational, and department documentation.
- Recommend areas for process improvements.
- Provide on‑call support for applications.
- Offer input into policy and procedure redesign.
- Serve as a preceptor for new staff in the department.
- Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
- Lift a minimum of 20 lbs., push and pull a minimum of 20 lbs. and stand at least four hours a day.
- Adhere to the Medical Centers Organizational Competencies and Standards of Behavior.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent years of experience.
- Minimum of 4 years of IT experience, preferably in healthcare or a related field, OR 3 years of IT experience and 2 years of clinical experience.
- Expert knowledge of subject matter.
- Ability to organize and coordinate the actions of small groups to achieve departmental and organizational goals.
- Works independently and effectively manages time unsupervised.
- Strong desktop skills including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, and Outlook.
- Effective oral and written communication.
- Creates and maintains clear, concise documentation.
- Collaborates with other team members across the department.
- Demonstrates self‑direction.
