Associate Director, Executive Recruitment (Accounting/Finance)

This is an on site role (Edison, NJ)

Our growing construction industry client is seeking a forward-thinking Controller to join the leadership team and guide the financial health and strategic growth of the organization. In this pivotal role, you’ll do more than just manage the numbers, you’ll shape financial strategy, improve operational efficiency, and be a trusted partner to executive leadership. You’ll also play an integral role in overseeing related departments such as HR, IT, and Risk Management to ensure we’re aligned, effective, and prepared for continued success.

Ideal candidate will have a background in construction or manufacturing who understand the unique financial challenges and opportunities of the industry.

What You'll Be Doing:

• Lead all core financial functions, including budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, cash flow management, and compliance.
• Act as a strategic advisor on long-term planning, major investments, cost-saving initiatives, and contract evaluations.
• Oversee day-to-day financial operations—managing vendor and customer accounting, AP/AR, payroll, benefits, insurance, and tax filings.
• Strengthening and modernizing financial systems, processes, and internal controls to support growth and operational excellence.
• Continuously monitor financial performance, identify trends, and proactively address variances.
• Provide insights and education to department managers to improve budget ownership and financial awareness across the organization.
• Guide the budgeting and forecasting process, helping all departments align their plans with company goals.
• Manage, mentor, and support Finance, HR, IT, and Risk teams—ensuring each team has the resources and leadership needed to thrive.
• Recruit, train, and develop high-performing team members while creating opportunities for both professional and personal growth.
• Ensure company policies and procedures are up-to-date, efficient, and effectively enforced.
• Partner with leadership to evaluate business opportunities, including potential acquisitions, partnerships, and expansions.

What We’re Looking For:

• Proven leadership experience with a strong background in financial management, planning, and analysis.
• Excellent communication and decision-making skills, with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally.
• Experience in multi-entity and multi-departmental environments preferred.
• Construction or manufacturing industry experience is highly preferred.
• Familiarity with ERP systems

Who You'll Oversee
:

You’ll have direct responsibility for the Accounting and Finance department, and oversee Human Resources, Risk Management, and IT. You'll be expected to provide strong leadership, set goals, and help your teams succeed through training, development, and ongoing support.
