Base pay range$90,000.00/yr - $/yr
The General Accounting Supervisor is responsible for overseeing general accounting activities for subsidiaries, including transportation entities, and collaborating with cross‑functional teams to support the balance sheet review process for Wakefern. This role ensures compliance with GAAP while leading a team of eight accountants engaged in journal entry preparation, bank reconciliations, weekly flashes, and cost accounting reports.
Essential Functions- Review and approve department journal entries.
- Maintain accurate and timely balance sheet reconciliations.
- Lead month‑end and year‑end close processes for assigned entities.
- Support Wakefern’s monthly and quarterly balance sheet review process.
- Partner with auditors and internal teams to ensure smooth audits.
- Drive process improvements and implement best practices for efficiency and accuracy.
- Develop, coach, and mentor accounting staff to achieve departmental goals.
- Coordinate and assist with warranty claim preparation and receivables.
- Collaborate with Treasury to establish loans for transportation fixed asset purchases.
- Oversee fuel tax compliance and operational requirements related to fleet registration and titling for new and existing vehicles.
- Support special projects and initiatives within the department.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance required (CPA preferred)
- Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting experience required
- Ability to lead, motivate and guide a team of associates
- Strong GAAP knowledge and ERP experience (SAP a plus)
- Advanced Excel skills and exceptional attention to detail
- Proven organization and multitasking skills
- Strong interpersonal and oral/written communication skills
- Availability to work a varied, flexible schedule to meet business demands
- Ability to monitor computer screens for long periods of time
- Ability to work a hybrid schedule as established by the division

The salary range for this position is $90,000 to $110,000 annually. Placement in the range depends on several factors, including experience, skills, education, geography, and budget considerations.
