NUSE PRACTITIONER CARDIOVASCULAR – OCEANUMC BRICK, NJ

Overview
The Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) utilizes a patient‑centered coordinated care model, demonstrating competencies in leadership, direct clinical practice, consultation and collaboration, coaching, research, and ethical decision‑making. This role is administrative; no procedures or direct patient care are performed. Responsibilities include managing the database and registry, reviewing quality metrics, performing data reporting, and managing the care of interventional patients pre‑ and post‑procedure to ensure guideline compliance.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an NLN/AACN accredited nursing program

• Master’s or Doctorate degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program

• Maintenance of clinical competencies through continuing education

• National Provider Identifier (NPI)

• Prescriptive authority via CDS and DEA registration, NJ state law

• Collaborative agreement with physicians on staff

• Proficient computer skills (Microsoft Office/Google Suite)

• NJ State Registered Nurse license, Advanced Nurse Practitioner, BLS AHA, board certification (AANP/ANCC); preferred A cardiac life support

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive history and physical assessments appropriate for patient demographics and clinical problem.
• Order, perform, and interpret laboratory tests and diagnostic studies in collaboration with physicians.
• Manage general medical and surgical conditions based on etiologies, risk factors, pathophysiology, and pharmacologic indications.
• Prescribe medication safely and effectively per best practices, hospital policy, and NJ regulations; provide patient education.
• Promote APN practice recognition through conferences, publications, and presentations.
• Provide patient‑ and family‑centered care, demonstrating compassion and effectiveness.
• Operate as a healthcare provider under Medical Staff rules, complying with privileges delineation.
• Adhere to HMH nursing protocols, standards of care, and quality indicators.
• Apply evidence‑based medicine to analyse and improve patient outcomes.
• Facilitate coordinated care and communication during interdisciplinary rounds.
• Serve as an advocate for patients and families, addressing obstacles to care progression.
• Act as a clinical resource for multidisciplinary teams, addressing process and system improvements.
• Participate in organizational meetings, committees, and work groups.
• Proactively mentor other APNs and precept students in APN programs.
• Adhere to legal framework and NJ scope of practice, ensuring compliance with all statutes.
• Complete additional duties as assigned.
