Overview

The Registered Nurse functions as a caregiver for a specific patient population in order to achieve desired outcomes. This position focuses on expanding knowledge and skills, provides effective direct care as part of the interdisciplinary team to a variety of complex patients. The nurse directs and oversees the care provided by other caregivers through delegation, validation, evaluation, and coordination, and effectively coordinates patient care/unit activities among nursing peers, physicians, and support services.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver nursing practices according to evidence‑based research, policies, and standards of care to provide safe and excellent individualized patient care.
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care, including collection of data, critical thinking, and identifying changes in patient status.
  • Develop and implement patient and family centered goals and plans of care, coordinating with the team to achieve expected outcomes.
  • Communicate with patients, families, and the healthcare team regarding status and care plans; provide education and support.
  • Document care and interventions in a timely manner, including medication administration and electronic records.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary discharge planning to ensure safe transitions and continuity of care.
  • Evaluate progress toward outcomes, utilize critical thinking, and initiate interventions as needed.
  • Address ethical issues, enhance patient satisfaction, and maintain required competencies, certifications, and continuing education.
  • Adhere to the American Nurses Association Code, hospital competencies, and regulatory requirements; lift a minimum of 35 lbs, push or pull 10 lbs, and stand for six hours daily.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Identify ethical issues and bring them to the attention of team members.
  • Recognize opportunities to improve patient satisfaction.
  • Maintain required competencies, certifications, and continuing education for accreditation or licensing.
  • Adhere to the American Nurses Association Code for Nurses and to HMH's organizational standards.
  • Other duties and/or projects as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of an associate degree or diploma in Nursing.
  • BSN in progress or willing to acquire within three years of hire; meet required BSN within five years for union contract staff.
  • Six months or more of relevant nursing experience or active participation in HMH's Nurse Residency Program.
  • Ability to learn quickly, adapt to patient needs, and work collaboratively in a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • National certification in area of specialty preferred when eligible.
Licenses and Certifications Required
  • Current and valid Registered Nurse license for the assigned HMH location upon hire.
  • BLS/CPR certification within 60 days of hire.
Compensation

Starting at $45.14/hour. This rate reflects the minimum base pay for this role and does not include additional benefits or incentive programs.
