Pet Smart’s Pet Stylist (Dog Groomer) engages with pet parents and pets while delivering positive experiences and best-in-class salon services. The role supports cleanliness and pet health and safety standards in the salon.
Responsibilities- Independently performs full menu of bath, brush and grooming services and standalone services (nail trims, teeth brushing, sanitary services) in accordance with Pet Smart’s standards and procedures.
- Recommends additional health and wellness solutions based on the pet’s needs.
- Responsible for the pet parent experience and outcomes conducted in person, over the phone and at the sales register.
- Greets pet parents, answers questions and assists with making salon reservations.
- Conducts appointment reminder calls, maintains client records and consults with pet parents on services offered.
- Performs check-in and check-out for grooming appointments, including paperwork and rebooking.
- Promotes opportunities to grow salon sales to meet sales targets and relevant salon metrics.
- Recommends, informs, and sells merchandise and services.
- Maintains high levels of cleanliness, sanitation and humane conditions for all pets in the grooming area.
- Responds quickly if a pet is identified as sick/injured and facilitates transport to a veterinarian when needed.
- Assists in other departments as required. Performs other duties as assigned.
- Participates in the culture of Belonging and Recognition and follows all Company Policies and Procedures.
- Prior grooming experience; or 6 months of experience in the Stylist in Training program with successful completion of Pet Smart’s Salon Academy training and safety certification, or passes the salon technical evaluation.
- Proficiency in computer applications.
- Ability to react under pressure and maintain composure.
- Flexibility in schedule, able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail and safety measures.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Stand, walk, and use hands to handle, feel, and operate tools; ability to reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch; depth perception; reasonable accommodations available.
- Frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds; occasionally team lift and/or move more than 100 pounds.
- Exposure to a wet environment with pet hair, moving mechanical parts, live animals; noise levels can be moderate to high.

Pay details:
Base pay rate or groom pay (percentage of grooming sales) depending on the role and store; pay will not be less than local minimum wage. This position is eligible for benefits as described by the company.
