Overview

Position Summary:

Drives sales in the Vision Center by ensuring effective merchandise presentation, accurate pricing, proper signing, in-stock and inventory levels, budgeting and forecasting, and assessing economic trends and community needs. Provides direction and guidance to Associates on customer/member service approaches and ensures issues are resolved within Company guidelines and standards. Oversees community outreach programs and supports Associates as good members of the community.

Ensures compliance with Company and legal policies, procedures, and regulations for the Vision Center by analyzing reports, implementing asset protection and safety controls, and directing Confidentiality and records management. Supports supervision and development of Associates through hiring, training, mentoring, assigning duties, recognizing performance, and fostering belonging in the workplace. Maintains quality eyewear provision by educating Members/Customers, assisting with product selection, obtaining measurements, verifying prescriptions, maintaining confidentiality, performing minor frame repair, and operating optical equipment.

Upholds the Open Door Policy by meeting with Associates, researching issues, and suggesting resolutions.

Responsibilities

Coordinate, complete, and oversee job-related activities by building relationships with key stakeholders, supporting plans and initiatives to meet customer and business needs, and communicating goals. Promote accountability and measure progress, identify improvement opportunities, and demonstrate adaptability and continuous learning. Provide supervision and development opportunities for Associates in the Vision Center, including hiring, training, mentoring, assigning duties, recognizing contributions, and promoting a sense of belonging.

Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures and support the mission, values, and ethics by implementing action plans and applying the Open Door Policy in executing business processes. Demonstrate respect for individuals, collaborate across teams, and foster an inclusive workplace where Associates feel seen, supported, and connected. Promote integrity, accountability, and alignment with Walmart values, including helping to create a regenerative company and participating in local giving.

Deliver customer-focused results by applying EDLP/EDLC business models as appropriate to plans, and making decisions based on data and stakeholder considerations. Drive continuous improvement and encourage the adoption of new technologies and skills.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

Completion of 2 or more years of college OR 1 year’s retail experience and 1 year’s supervisory experience OR 2 years’ general work experience including 1 year’s optical experience. High school diploma or equivalent. Current eligibility to work as an optician or apprentice optician under applicable state laws, regulations, and/or rules.
