Join to apply for the Student Accompanist (Technical) - Dance role at University of Central Oklahoma.
This is a Regular Student Technical position as a Student Accompanist. In collaboration with the dance instructor, the student accompanist will provide accompaniment for major level modern dance classes in the Department of Dance.
Hours per Week: As needed, not to exceed 10 hours per week.
Department: Department of Dance.
Job Functions: Playing musical selections from scores, lead sheets, or from memory in styles and meters such as 3/4, 4/4, 5/4, and 6/8 for warm-up exercises, combinations, across-the-floor exercises, and compositions. Ability to improvise music in various styles to reflect and support dance movement.
Enrollment Requirements: Must be enrolled at least half-time during Fall/Spring semesters (5 hours for grads, 6 for undergrads). Full-time enrollment required for international students. Summer semester requires at least 3 credits, or 6 (undergrad) / 5 (grad) for FWSP positions. Exceptions require a letter from the academic advisor.
Qualifications/Experience: Knowledge of music theory, harmony, musical forms, composition techniques, and their application. Ability to understand and follow oral instructions, work collaboratively, and establish effective working relationships.
