Art Sculpture-Full Time, Tenure Track Assistant Professor of Art
The Department of Art invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor, specializing in Sculpture. We seek a dynamic and innovative artist-educator with expertise in a broad range of sculptural techniques and materials. Areas of departmental interest include, but are not limited to, wood and stone carving, steel fabrication, welding, 3D/4D printing, casting and mold-making methods, for bronze and other materials and site-specific installations.
Position Overview
The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching and mentoring students while maintaining an active professional studio practice. Faculty members are expected to contribute to department, college, and university service, including participation in faculty meetings, committee work, and student recruitment and retention. The position also requires maintaining student and department records in accordance with university policies and fostering a collaborative academic environment.
Duties and Responsibilities
Teach three studio courses (13.5 contact hours) per semester across all levels of sculpture, including 3D fundamentals, introductory, intermediate, and advanced sculpture courses.Develop and deliver a curriculum that integrates traditional and contemporary sculptural methods, materials, and conceptual approaches.Foster a welcoming and innovative learning environment that supports student growth and experimentation.Advise and mentor students in academic and professional development.Maintain an active and ongoing exhibition and scholarly record.Engage in service at the departmental, college, and university levels, including committee participation and student recruitment efforts.Required Qualifications
MFA in Studio Art with an emphasis in Sculpture or a related field.Minimum of two years of full-time college-level teaching experience.Extensive knowledge of contemporary and historical art, craft, and design practices.Demonstrated professional studio practice with a strong record of exhibitions and scholarly activity.Excellent oral and written communication skills.Preferred Qualifications
Experience with online learning management systems (e.g., D2L).Proven track record of community engagement and student mentorship.Application Requirements
