Sports Official, Rankin YMCA – YMCA of Greater Oklahoma City

Join the YMCA as a part-time Sports Official or gym monitor to help young athletes grow. This role supports seasonal sports programs, keeping them running smoothly and focusing on player development.

Responsibilities and Duties
  • Arrive prior to start of scheduled games and stay late as needed.
  • Ensure that the YMCA Pledge is said prior to each game.
  • Communicate problems and concerns through the chain of command to the Program Director in charge of sports.
  • Relate to all program participants in a courteous, respectful, and professional manner.
  • Enforce YMCA rules and maintain a safe environment.
  • Address and respond to actions not in line with the YMCA mission or philosophy.
  • Organize and maintain the program area, including all YMCA equipment used by participants.
  • Report any incidents to the supervisor.
  • Carry out approved emergency action plans in the event of an emergency.
  • Be impartial and fair in officiating duties.
  • Keep the sport fun for participants.
  • Help players learn the game as appropriate.
  • Set up and canvas playing surfaces prior to games to ensure safety.
  • Communicate effectively with parents, coaches, participants, and volunteers.
  • Accept responsibility for the association-wide sports program as needed.
  • Develop meaningful and sustainable relationships with members, donors, and volunteers.
  • Must be available to work on weeknights and/or Saturdays.
Requirements
  • Current CPR/AED/First Aid certification, renewed annually (training provided if needed).
  • Completed officials training.
  • Completed all required Annual Compliance Trainings within 30 days of hire and renewed annually.
  • Working knowledge of the sport and understanding of the YMCA mission in sports and Core Values.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to walk or stand for long periods and lift up to 75 lbs.
Compensation and Employment

Salary: $10.00 per hour.
