About Us

Intuitive Safety Solutions (ISS) is a rapidly growing safety and staffing/consulting organization that supports clients across the construction, renewable energy, industrial, and environmental sectors. We are seeking a detail‑oriented and proactive Accounting Specialist to support our financial operations, strengthen internal controls, and ensure accurate financial reporting across multiple business units and client accounts.

Position Overview

The Accounting Specialist is responsible for general accounting, payroll and billing support, accounts payable and receivable, reconciliations, and month‑end close activities. This role requires strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced, team‑driven environment.

Key Responsibilities General Accounting
  • Prepare journal entries, maintain general ledger accounts, and complete monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Assist with month‑end and year‑end close processes.
  • Maintain accounting schedules, including accruals, prepaids, and fixed assets.
  • Support audit activities by preparing documentation and schedules.
Billing & Accounts Receivable
  • Generate and review client invoices based on accurate timecard, expenses, and rate data.
  • Ensure compliance with revenue recognition policies and client billing requirements.
  • Monitor AR aging reports and assist with collections efforts.
Accounts Payable
  • Process vendor invoices, credit card expenses, and weekly check runs.
  • Validate expense coding and ensure proper approval workflows.
  • Maintain positive vendor relationships through timely payments.
Payroll & Staffing Support
  • Collaborate with payroll to reconcile payroll journals, tax filings, and assignment costs.
  • Verify contractor hours, bill rates, and pay rates; resolve discrepancies.
  • Audit expense reports to confirm costs are paid and billed in accordance with employment agreements and client contracts.
  • Support accurate data flow between accounting, recruiting, and operations.
  • Assist in preparing internal financial reports, KPI dashboards, and variance analyses.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and operational financial reviews.
  • Provide financial insights to leadership for decision‑making.
Compliance & Process Improvement
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, internal controls, and tax requirements.
  • Maintain organized digital and physical financial records.
  • Identify and implement process improvements within the accounting function.
Qualifications Required
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 2–5 years of accounting experience; staffing or service‑industry experience preferred.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP principles.
  • Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., Quick Books, Net Suite, Great Plains).
  • Strong Excel skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.
  • High attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a deadline‑driven environment.
Preferred
  • Experience with timecard‑based billing or high‑volume payroll.
  • Familiarity with ATS or VMS systems.
  • Exposure to multi‑state or multi‑entity operations.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • High integrity and confidentiality.
  • Process‑oriented with adaptability to change.
  • Reliable, self‑motivated, and highly organized.
