About The Position
Under general supervision, performs basic customer service functions to assist Parks and Recreation customers; greeting facility guests, assisting with program registrations, processing facility rentals and answering questions about recreation classes, rental facilities, and events; collecting fees and providing receipts for classes and drop-in use and monitoring facility use to include securing building during evening and weekend shifts.

New Hires Generally Start Between $19.47 And $21.47. Placement Within The Position s Full Wage Scale Is Based On Qualification And Professional Experience. The Full Wage Scale For This Position Is Based On

  • Hourly Pay Grade H-8. Between $19.47 and $23.67 per hour

Schedule: Less than 20 hours per week. Hours are variable including evenings and some Saturdays.

About The Department

Edmonds Parks, Recreation & Cultural Services department serves as the community s key resource for providing parks, recreation and aquatic programs, culture arts tourism, economic development and enhanced quality of life for its citizens. There are more than 62 sites including 31 active parks that encompass over 325 acres, 20,000 square feet of flower beds and more than 3,000 feet of waterfront shoreline in the Edmonds Parks System which is maintained by Edmonds Parks Maintenance.

The City

The City of Edmonds is a beautiful community on the Puget Sound waterfront with a population of 43,420 (MRSC, 2024) and is the gateway to the Olympic peninsula via the state ferry system. Edmonds provides a full range of services, including contracted fire services, police services a municipal court, a community pool, a regional performing arts facility, public works and utilities, a regional wastewater treatment facility, along with community events and services through our Parks, Recreation, and Cultural Services Department.

Six department directors report directly to the Mayor and oversee approximately 279 full–time-equivalent employees.

Essential Functions And Responsibilities

The following duties ARE NOT intended to serve as a comprehensive list of all duties performed by all employees in this classification, only a representative summary of the primary duties and responsibilities. Incumbent(s) may not be required to perform all duties listed and may be required to perform additional, position-specific duties.

  • Performs various clerical duties including answering telephones and greeting visitors, providing information in person, on the telephone and/or referring to appropriate personnel.
  • Receives/processes registration and rental fees and provides refunds according to established procedures; prepares receipts and deposits as appropriate.
  • Operate office machines including computers, copiers, calculators and other office equipment as assigned.
  • Monitor facility use as needed including securing building during evening and weekend shifts.
  • Performs a variety of special duties, projects or activities of assigned department.
  • Understand and follow current recreational department procedures.
  • Performs work during evenings and on weekends and holidays as needed.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned that are within the scope of this position classification.
Required Knowledge Of

Education And Experience
