Intermediate Accountant

Join Valard Construction as an Intermediate Accountant in Edmonton, AB, focusing on financial analysis and month-end close responsibilities. Contribute to fleet operations through rigorous account reconciliations and asset decision-making support.

This role reports to the Fleet Controller and collaborates with finance and fleet teams to ensure financial integrity. Key tasks include analyzing fleet cost drivers, preparing amortization schedules, and generating invoices. You will also perform balance sheet reviews and undertake special projects requiring your Excel expertise.

Key Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with fleet managers on expense accruals

• Analyze major fleet cost drivers monthly

• Prepare amortization schedules for prepaid expenses

• Review financing and leasing costs for ROI

• Perform monthly balance sheet reviews

Requirements:

• Post-secondary education in Accounting or Finance

• 5 years of accounting experience, ideally in Heavy Equipment

• Advanced MS Excel proficiency

• Knowledge of ERP systems, JD Edwards preferred

• Ability to manage tight deadlines under pressure
