Intermediate Accounting Technician

The Intermediate Accounting Technician – Treasury supports day-to-day treasury and accounting activities across TURBINE-X, including cash management, banking, reconciliations, payments, month-end close, tax compliance, and financial reporting.
Working closely with the Finance team and internal stakeholders, you’ll help ensure financial transactions are accurate, properly supported, and completed on time. This role is ideal for someone who is detail-oriented, analytical, and comfortable balancing multiple accounting priorities in a growing organization.
WHAT YOU'LL DOTreasury & Banking
- Process Electronic Funds Transfers (EFTs) and wire payments, ensuring required approvals and supporting documentation are in place.
- Perform regular bank reconciliations and investigate and resolve discrepancies.
- Complete cash account reconciliations and monitor cash activity across company accounts.
- Validate and maintain vendor banking information in accordance with internal controls and payment procedures.
- Assist with cash management activities and treasury-related inquiries.
- Maintain accurate and organized banking and payment records.
Loans & Financing
- Maintain accurate accounting records for company loans and financing arrangements.
- Record loan transactions, including principal, interest, and related fees.
- Prepare quarterly loan reporting and supporting schedules.
- Reconcile loan balances to lender statements and the general ledger and investigate discrepancies.
Accounts Payable & Receivable
- Perform intercompany Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable reconciliations.
- Ensure intercompany balances are accurately recorded and supported.
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies between related entities.
- Assist with vendor account and payment inquiries as required.
Month-End Close & Financial Reporting
- Prepare and post month-end journal entries and supporting documentation.
- Assist with month-end close activities and ensure assigned accounts are reconciled and properly supported.
- Perform variance analysis and investigate significant differences between actual results, budgets, forecasts, and prior periods.
- Prepare financial schedules and reports for management review.
- Maintain accurate and complete supporting documentation for financial transactions and account balances.
Tax Compliance
- Assist with the preparation of GST returns, including gathering supporting information and reconciling GST accounts.
- Support corporate tax preparation by providing required schedules, reconciliations, and documentation.
- Ensure tax-related accounts are properly reconciled and supporting records are maintained.
Purchase Orders & Internal Support
- Manage and monitor Finance and Executive purchase orders.
- Ensure purchase orders are properly documented, approved, and matched to invoices and supporting documentation.
- Work with internal departments to resolve purchase order, invoice, and payment discrepancies.
- Provide accounting and treasury support to Finance and other departments as required.
Internal Controls & Compliance
- Process accounting and treasury transactions in accordance with company policies, procedures, and internal controls.
- Ensure appropriate approvals and supporting documentation are obtained before processing payments and other transactions.
- Protect confidential financial, banking, vendor, and company information.
- Identify unusual transactions, control issues, or process gaps and elevate them appropriately.
- Support internal and external audit requirements as needed.
- Maintain complete, accurate, and organized accounting, banking, and payment records.
Continuous Improvement & Problem Solving
- Identify opportunities to improve treasury, accounting, reconciliation, and payment processes.
- Assist with standardizing Finance procedures, processes, and documentation.
- Investigate recurring discrepancies and support root cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Recommend improvements to cash management, payment, reconciliation, and reporting processes.
- Support system enhancements and Finance process improvements.
- Promote accurate, consistent, and efficient accounting practices across the Finance team.
Experience
- Diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Three to five years of progressive accounting experience, preferably including treasury, banking, or corporate accounting.
- Experience with bank and account reconciliations, journal entries, AP/AR, and month-end procedures.
