Senior Municipal Accountant Edmonton

Advance municipal finance in Edmonton as a Senior Accountant using financial analytics, budgeting, and public-sector accounting expertise. Hybrid work may be available.

The City of Edmonton seeks a Senior Accountant within Financial Services and the Finance and Treasury Branch. This temporary full-time position supports operational finance through complex accounting, financial planning, forecasting, and reporting. You will advise business partners while strengthening controls and decision support.

• Review transactions, monthly entries, and recurring business-area transactions
• Advise on policies, controls, standards, and complex accounting events
• Coordinate operating budget submissions for business partners
• Analyze cost drivers, variances, portfolios, and business cases
• Oversee non-consolidated working papers and legislative reporting disclosures

• Recognized Canadian professional accounting designation required
• Minimum five years of progressively responsible accounting experience
• Public-sector financial planning and budgeting experience preferred
• Advanced Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets skills
• Knowledge of Public Sector Accounting Standards and Municipal Government Act
