Overview
Experience in commercial and automotive repair, strong knowledge in mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and emission systems, ability to lead and train apprentices, and focus on customer service. The role requires working on‑site at our Edmonton location. The position is a green job contributing to Canada’s net‑zero target.
Responsibilities
Adjust, repair or replace parts and components of commercial transport truck systems
Adjust, repair or replace parts and components of automotive systems
Adjust, repair or replace parts and components of truck‑trailer systems
Repair or replace mechanical units or components
Inspect and test mechanical units to locate faults and malfunctions
Test and adjust repaired systems to manufacturer’s specifications
Estimate parts and labour cost for vehicle maintenance and repairs
Perform scheduled maintenance services
Advise customers on work performed and future repair requirements
Complete reports recording problems and work performed
Coach and instruct apprentices
Provide customer service
Qualifications and Experience
Other trades certificate or diploma
5 years or more relevant experience
Experience in 4‑wheel drive, electrical and electronic systems, alignment, steering and suspension, brake systems, hydraulic system, fuel and emission system, ignition & electrical system, automatic transmission, standard transmission, engine repair and overhaul, welding, imported vehicles, front end components, HVAC system
Tire, wheel and rim mechanic certification
Automotive Service Technician (Fuel and Electrical Systems) Trade Certification
Automotive Service Technician (Steering, Suspension and Brakes) Trade Certification
First Aid Certificate
WHMIS Certificate
Additional requirements
Driving record check (abstract)
Own transportation / vehicle
Valid driver’s licence; ability to drive manual transmission vehicle
Fast‑paced environment; hand‑eye coordination
Tools, steel‑toed safety boots required
Flexibility, reliability, team player skills
