Reporting to the Estimating Manager, the Structural Estimator will be responsible for the generation of accurate and timely cost estimates for assigned projects. The Estimator will deliver properly organized estimates, budgets and schedules, while managing Aecon’s risk.
What You'll Do Here:
Analyze documents, scope of works, specifications, proposals requirements, and addendums in preparation for pricing.Perform quantity take-off from construction drawings, 3D models and bill of quantities.Obtain, analyze, validate to scope of work and recommend third party pricing from suppliers and subcontractors to incorporate into estimate.Formulate all costs for tender submission – labour, equipment, material, freight, consumables, rentals and subcontractors.Accountable for accuracy and completeness of tender submissions.Assist with Prequalification submissions, RFQ’s and RFI’s as required.Obtain input from Operations staff as appropriate.Review project site and construction conditions prior to price preparation, as required.Perform Post Bid / Post Project Analysis completion and that associated learning and communication takes place.Collect data and reports on established business Metrics and Key Performance Indicators.Comply with documentation management systems by filing bid documentation and estimating records. Managing correspondence for active and completed estimates.Provide estimating support to field and operational staff, on current projects, as required.Drive Estimating process / procedure compliance and consistencyIncorporate / comply with Aecon’s risk management policies and procedures.Drive positive relationships and serves as the main contact with key subcontractors.Maintain estimating data systems to ensure they are kept up to date.Drive an inclusive culture to promote equity, welcome different perspectives, and enable career progression by fostering a sense of belonging.What You Bring to the Team:
Minimum 3 years of structural estimating experience within the industrial construction industry.Construction Engineering Technologist Diploma or Trade Certification or Gold Seal Certificate (Estimating) or equivalent experience.Strong computer skills – MS Excel / Word / Project, P6, SharePoint, Bluebeam and estimating software (Accubid).Exceptional organizational and time management skills.Strong communication skills, both oral and written.Ability to work accurately, effectively under pressure.Adaptable to flexible work schedule when required to meet deadlines.Ability to work with others as a team.Be a champion of inclusion and diversity.
