The Estimator will assist in providing accurate and timely estimates of all costs for electrical/mechanical work on various industrial projects.This position is based in Bird’s NW Edmonton Office
What You Will Be Working On
Review project plans, specifications, and related documents to gain an understanding of project scope and requirements.
Conduct take-offs from project drawings and develop material and labor quantity estimates. Utilize estimating software and tools to prepare detailed cost estimates, including labor, materials, subcontractor quotes, and other project costs.
Assist in the preparation of bid proposals, including organizing and compiling all relevant estimating information.
Collaborate with senior estimators and project managers to review and analyze bids and proposals for accuracy and competitiveness.
Assist in maintaining and updating cost databases, historical data, and estimating resources to ensure accuracy and consistency in estimating practices.
Support the estimating team in tracking and reporting on project bids, opportunities, and market trends.
Participate in departmental and project meetings to provide input and support on estimating-related matters.
Stay up to date with industry trends, construction technologies, and best practices in estimating.
Work closely with the senior estimator, project manager, site superintendent, owner, consultants, suppliers and trades to identify, develop, implement and support cost-effective project delivery.
Participate in project scheduling activities and provide input on preconstruction activities.
Develop and maintain positive relationships with client, consultants, suppliers and subtrades.
Maintain the highest standards of professional ethics and integrity when representing Brid Construction.
What We Are Looking For
Undergraduate electrical/mechanical degree, relevant trade certificate or equivalent experience
1-4 years’ progressive experience in an estimating role, preferably in an industrial construction environment
Technical training in project management, drafting and engineering design, trade certificates and/or field experience an asset
Experience working with estimating software programs an asset
Ability to communicate with project team, subtrades, consultants and owner; understand the issues and be an active participant in the preconstruction process an asset
Ability to read blueprints and drawings and define the scope of work and project specifications
Ability to quantify materials and supplies from blueprints and drawing
Must be able to determine work priorities and sequence of how the project…
