Construction ManagerOur client is seeking an experienced and hands‑on Construction Manager to oversee field operations for land development and underground utility projects. This role is responsible for leading field teams, coordinating daily on‑site activities, and ensuring that all work is completed safely, efficiently, and in alignment with project timelines and budgets.
Your success will be defined by your ability to:Manage day‑to‑day field operations across multiple sites and ensure effective deployment of crews, equipment, and resourcesLead, mentor, and support foremen, operators, labourers, subcontractors, and Site SuperintendentsOversee installation of underground utilities, including water, sanitary, and storm systems, within land development projectsTrack progress against schedules and budgets, identify challenges early, and take corrective action to maintain productivity and timelinesEnforce safety, environmental, and quality standards in accordance with regulatory requirementsCoordinate equipment needs, material deliveries, and overall site logisticsBuild and maintain collaborative relationships with clients, inspectors, municipalities, and project stakeholdersConduct regular site inspections, toolbox talks, and team meetings to sustain performance and alignmentTroubleshoot technical and logistical issues, assist with change order documentation, and provide constructability input during planningSupport resource planning, crew scheduling, and continuous improvement initiatives across field operationsYour strengths include:A diploma or degree in Civil Engineering Technology, Construction Management, or equivalent field experienceGold Seal Certification (or progress toward certification) is an asset8+ years of field experience in civil infrastructure, particularly land development and underground utilitiesDemonstrated leadership managing crews on subdivision or neighbourhood renewal projects ranging from $500K to $30MStrong communication and conflict‑resolution skills with the ability to lead diverse field teamsTechnical expertise in water and sewer installation, trenching, grading, earthworks, and utility coordinationAbility to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contract documentsProficiency in construction scheduling, productivity monitoring, and field cost controlCompetence with Microsoft Office and field management tools (e.g., daily reporting apps, GPS systems)Knowledge of safety regulations, quality standards, and environmental best practices
