About the Role  Cobalt Construction is seeking a Level 3 First Aid Attendant / Heavy Equipment Operator (HEO) to support active road construction and infrastructure projects throughout the Yukon.
This is a field-based position that combines Occupational First Aid Level 3 responsibilities with heavy equipment operation. The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining a safe work environment while also supporting construction operations through the safe and efficient operation of heavy equipment.
The position will often be based in remote work camps and requires an individual who is safety-focused, dependable, adaptable, and comfortable working in challenging outdoor environments.

Key Responsibilities - First Aid & Safety   Provide on-site emergency medical care in accordance with Yukon Workers' Safety and Compensation Board (WSCB) requirements
Maintain and manage a fully equipped Level 3 First Aid station and medical supplies
Respond promptly to workplace incidents, injuries, and medical emergencies
Complete detailed incident reports, treatment documentation, and first aid records
Participate in daily toolbox meetings, safety orientations, and emergency response drills
Coordinate medical evacuations and liaise with emergency services when required
Promote a strong safety-first culture across the worksite
Act as a first aid and safety resource for workers onsite
Assist with site safety inspections, hazard identification, and corrective actions as required
Ensure first aid equipment and supplies are properly maintained, stocked, and readily accessible
Travel between project sites as required

Key Responsibilities - Heavy Equipment Operation   Safely operate heavy equipment as required for road construction and infrastructure projects
Operate equipment such as excavators, loaders, skid steers, dozers, graders, or other equipment based on project requirements and experience
Perform daily equipment inspections and report mechanical issues or safety concerns
Operate equipment in accordance with company policies, manufacturer specifications, and site safety procedures
Assist with road construction, excavation, grading, material handling, site preparation, and general civil construction activities
Maintain awareness of workers, vehicles, utilities, changing ground conditions, and other hazards while operating equipment
Follow all traffic control, environmental, and site-specific safety requirements
Maintain equipment in a clean and safe operating condition
Support other construction activities and crew members when equipment operation is not required
Work cooperatively with supervisors, foremen, operators, and other site personnel
Qualifications & Requirements   Valid and current Occupational First Aid Level 3 (OFA
3) certification from a recognized provider
Previous experience as a First Aid Attendant in construction, mining, civil, or industrial worksites is preferred
Heavy Equipment Operator (HEO) experience required
Demonstrated experience operating one or more types of heavy equipment

Experience with road construction, civil construction, mining, or infrastructure projects is considered an asset
Knowledge of Yukon Occupational Health & Safety requirements and remote emergency response protocols
Valid Class 5 driver's licence with a clean driving abstract
Additional equipment tickets or certifications are considered an asset
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions during emergencies
Strong commitment to workplace safety and safe equipment operation
Ability to work independently and as part of a construction crew
Ability to work long hours in remote camps and varying weather conditions
Physically capable of working in rugged terrain and outdoor environments
Willingness and ability to travel between remote project sites
Work Schedule & Details   Full-time seasonal, project-based employment
Field-based work throughout the Yukon
Rotation schedule dependent on project requirements
Remote work camps may be required
Camp accommodations and meals provided when working at remote sites
PPE provided, excluding personal footwear
