Battlefield is a storied franchise renowned for uncompromising combat gameplay and all-out warfare, with over two decades of history and 5 billion hours played. Battlefield Studios is defining the future of the first‑person shooter, launching Battlefield 6 and the new era of Battlefield REDSEC. Ripple Effect, one of our world‑class studios, has been dedicated to the franchise since 2013 and is building a connected Battlefield universe filled with immersive experiences.
The Role: Senior Game Writer owns sections of the narrative under the guidance of the Narrative Director. You will deliver narrative content for portions of the game by collaborating with design and other narrative writers, reporting to the Design Line Director. The role is hybrid or onsite at the Vancouver – Great Northern Way studio for a 12‑month term.
Responsibilities- Collaborate with other writers and the design team on creating live‑service content
- Align with the Narrative Director and own narrative for large content deliverables
- Provide guidance and feedback to other writers on the team
- Generate outlines, story treatments, character descriptions, scene breakdowns, and other support materials
- Work closely with the core design team to develop a strong symbiotic relationship between game mechanics, design, and narrative
- Ensure story quality and consistency across the world of the game
- Identify narrative problems and brainstorm creative solutions
- 5+ years of experience in a professional writing role within the games industry
- College degree in screenwriting, creative writing, or similar; or equivalent professional experience
- Superb verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to write creative characters, dialogue, and scenes
- Organized, deadline‑driven work ethic
- Enthusiasm for direction in a team‑based, self‑starting environment
- Excellent knowledge of English grammar and professional editing
- Solid understanding of games and game development
The ranges listed below represent how EA expects to pay applicants for this role in VARCHAR 2024 in British Columbia. Pay will be determined based on relevant business and candidate factors.
- British Columbia (depending on location e.g., Vancouver vs. Victoria) – $111,600 – $152,800 CAD
Benefits include 3 weeks of vacation to start, 10 days of sick time per year, and extended health, dental, vision coverage and basic life insurance.
