We are pleased to invite applications for a Temporary Part-Time Teacher (0.5 FTE) serving Wetaskiwin Outreach School, a flexible and responsive program supporting students in Grades 9–12 through alternative, online, and student-directed learning pathways.
Wetaskiwin Outreach School provides meaningful opportunities for students from the City of Wetaskiwin and surrounding communities, using a student-led, teacher-supported approach that empowers learners to take ownership of their educational journey. As part of its diverse programming, the school offers online courses, requiring teachers to be highly skilled in digital instruction and virtual learner support.
Instruction Focus: CALM CTR 1010Preference will be given to incumbents possessing the following qualifications;
- B.Ed. with a major in English or Social Studies
- 1-2 years teaching experience
- Inclusive education philosophy and experience
- Familiar with Professional Learning Community model
- Understanding of the Responding to Interventions philosophy
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for interacting with students, teachers, parents/guardians
- An ability to work collaboratively as part of an educational team
- Knowledge and experience using emerging technologies to inform practice and transform learning via Google Apps for Education and other cloud-based apps
- Strong technological proficiency, including:
- Delivering and supporting online and blended learning courses
- Using learning management systems (e.g., Google Classroom or equivalent)
- Providing virtual instruction, feedback, and communication
- Supporting students in navigating digital learning tools
- Commitment to complete Health and Safety Training as prescribed by the Board
- Plan and deliver engaging and inclusive lessons that meet the needs of all students
- Provide ongoing assessment and feedback to students and their families
- Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement curriculum
- Promote a safe and positive learning environment for all students
