Can you speak Aesop to Hip Hop? Edmonton Public Library is looking for an outgoing and creative Smile Maker to join our team! This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic Smile Maker (aka Youth Services Librarian) who is passionate about working with children, families and community organizations.

Job Requirements
:
  • Master of Library and Information Studies degree, or equivalent, from an ALA-accredited institution is required.
  • Experience working with children, families, and community groups is preferred.
  • Experience working as a professional Librarian is preferred.

  • Ability to assess community interests and needs, and to plan services accordingly, in keeping with the Library's business plan and strategic directions.
  • Ability to work effectively with children and families, as well as customers of all ages and backgrounds.
  • Ability to work effectively outside of traditional library activities and settings.
  • Ability to adapt to shifting priorities and new service directions.
  • Demonstrated superior interpersonal, communication, presentation and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to contribute positively and work effectively within a team environment.
  • Pay Band:

    $42.15 - $53.80 per hour*


    * Approximately $77,015 - $98,292 per annum based on a 35 hour work week.

    Shift differential may apply in accordance with the terms and conditions of the CSU 52 Collective Agreement.

    Note:

  • Satisfactory background screening is required for this position which includes a security screening.
  • This position consists of varied schedules which include day, evening and weekend shifts. Youth Services Librarians are subject to variable hours of work as per the Collective Agreement and shift length may vary based on operational needs.
  • Hours of Work: 35 hours per week
