St.Thomas Aquinas Catholic Schools invites applications for a temporary full-time Inclusive Learning Coach position at Sacred Heart School in Wetaskiwin, Alberta. This position will begin February 23, 2026 and end June 26, 2026.
We are seeking a collaborative, relationship‑driven educator to serve as a Learning Coach, a key member of a school’s learning support team. Learning coaches strengthen instructional and inclusive practices by working directly with teachers through modeling, co‑planning, co‑teaching, reflective dialogue, and job‑embedded professional learning.
This role is non‑supervisory and focuses on capacity building, instructional leadership, and supporting teachers in creating engaging, accessible learning environments for all students.
Key Responsibilities Instructional Leadership & Capacity Building- Support teachers in implementing research‑based instructional strategies, including differentiated instruction, UDL, positive behaviour supports, and response to intervention.
- Co‑plan, model, observe, and co‑teach to strengthen classroom practice.
- Facilitate reflective conversations that promote professional growth and problem‑solving.
- Work closely with the learning support team to design inclusive, responsive learning environments.
- Help teachers analyze learner profiles, assessments, and student data to inform instruction.
- Contribute to school plans aligned with division and provincial goals for student success.
- Provide job‑embedded professional development and support ongoing teacher learning.
- Share resources, emerging research, and innovative practices.
- Help identify school‑wide learning needs and support the implementation of professional learning plans.
- Build trusting, respectful relationships with teachers.
- Serve as a mentor who encourages risk‑taking, reflection, and continuous improvement.
- Promote a collaborative school culture that values open communication and creative problem‑solving.
- Bachelor of Education degree.
- Demonstrated understanding of inclusive education and diverse learning needs.
- Strong knowledge of the Alberta Programs of Study.
- Experience using a range of instructional approaches, resources, and technologies.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively and build trusting relationships.
- Understanding of adult learning principles.
- Commitment to ongoing professional learning.
- Graduate coursework or a graduate degree related to inclusive education, differentiated instruction, or assistive technology.
- Deep understanding of cross‑curricular connections and K‑12 program coherence.
- Experience designing and facilitating high‑quality professional learning.
- Skill in collecting, analyzing, and using data to inform instructional planning.
- Ability to mentor adults through modeling, observation, and constructive feedback.
