Position: UPEI RESEARCH CHAIR, TIER II – Equity in Nutrition, Physical Activity, or Health
Position Overview  UPEI is inviting applications for a Tier II Canada Research Chair (CRC) in Equity in Nutrition, Physical Activity, or Health, to be housed within the Department of Applied Human Sciences in the Faculty of Science. The Chair will focus on equity in one or more of the following areas: food, nutrition, physical activity, sport, or health. The successful candidate will contribute to and expand the scope of research and teaching excellence in these areas.
Department Context  The Department of Applied Human Sciences offers undergraduate programs in Kinesiology and Foods & Nutrition and graduate programs in Human Biology and Applied Health Services Research. The Chair will join a community of scholars dedicated to exploring the relationships between sport, physical activity, nutrition and health.
Responsibilities  
• Conduct research that engages relevant communities, organizations, and institutions to advance equity in the chosen focus area.

• Secure research funding and manage research projects.

• Teach and mentor at the undergraduate and graduate levels, contributing to curriculum development.

• Participate in service, outreach and professional development activities, fostering interdisciplinary collaboration.
Qualifications   Capacity to undertake research involving active community engagement.
Ability to obtain research funding and implement projects.
Potential to contribute to teaching at the undergraduate or graduate level.
Eligibility of Canada Research Chairs   Must be an excellent emerging world‑class researcher who has demonstrated research creativity.
Demonstrated potential to achieve international recognition within the next five to ten years.
Potential to attract, develop and retain excellent trainees, students and future researchers.
Propose an original, innovative research program of high quality.
Application Process  Applicants should submit a single PDF file including a letter of intent, a research and teaching dossier, an updated CV, a statement of research achievements and future objectives, an overview of how EDIDA are integrated into the applicant’s research design and practices, and contact information for at least three referees. Review of applications will begin on March 12, 2025 and continue until a suitable candidate is identified. The start date is negotiable and will depend on the date of submission to the CRC Secretariat, estimated in the Fall of 2025, with a start date in 2026.
