Tenure Track Faculty Position - Assistant Professor in Exercise Intervention and Chronic Disease Management

About the Job
The Faculty of Kinesiology, Sport, and Recreation at the University of Alberta invites applications for an Assistant Professor rank tenure track position in the area of Exercise Intervention and Chronic Disease. This position has an anticipated start date of January 1, 2027.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be expected to develop an innovative and robust externally‑funded research program involving conducting exercise interventions in human populations experiencing any chronic disease (e.g. psychological, neurological, cardiovascular, metabolic). They will also be expected to i) teach graduate and undergraduate courses, ii) contribute to a new undergraduate kinesiology concentration that prepares students to engage in exercise programming with clinical populations, iii) supervise graduate and undergraduate students, and iv) provide service to the Faculty and the University, as well as to professional and external communities.
The successful candidate will have teaching capacity and a research program that extends and complements current faculty member expertise and serves instructional needs in the Faculty.
Qualifications
Candidates must hold a Ph.D. in Kinesiology, or a related field relevant to exercise interventions and chronic disease management at the start date of the appointment.
Experience in effectively communicating research results, including publications in peer‑reviewed journals and conference presentations.
Ability to extend and complement existing faculty research regarding chronic disease management and exercise.
Potential to secure external funding to support their research program.
Ability to fill instructional needs related to exercise prescription in healthy and clinical populations.
Ability to effectively engage students in curriculum and research on exercise and chronic disease management.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to engage in impactful service related to institutional operations, research, teaching, and/or access, community and belonging.
