Parkland School Division (PSD) currently has one
Probationary/Continuing Full-time (1.0 FTE) opportunity available as a Teacher - Facilitator with the Division’s Student Services team primarily located at the Centre for Education office in Stony Plain, Alberta, supporting schools across the Division.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide training and ongoing support to teachers in implementing evidence-based strategies and techniques to support students with inclusive learning needs.
  • Collaborate with school staff and administration to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with disabilities, ensuring access to education and accommodations are provided.
  • Conduct observations and assessments to identify areas of need and provide recommendations for adaptations and modifications to curriculum and instruction to meet the needs of students with diverse learning needs.
  • Provide support in implementing Positive Behaviour Supports to promote a positive and safe learning environment for all students.
  • Utilize Nonviolent Crisis Intervention techniques to manage crisis situations and provide support to teachers in implementing these techniques.
  • Stay up to date with current research and best practices in inclusive education and disseminate this information to teachers and staff.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in education or related field;
    Master's degree preferred.
  • Certification in special education or related field.
  • Minimum of five years of experience in teaching and supporting students with diverse learning needs.
  • Strong knowledge and experience in Nonviolent Crisis Intervention and Positive Behaviour Supports.
  • Understanding of the principles of differentiation and accommodations for students with complex communication needs, autism, and other disabilities.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
Knowledge,

Skills and Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years of exemplary classroom experience, demonstrating an ability to plan appropriate lessons and source resources for school-aged children and youth.
  • Proven track record of ability to work as part of a collaborative team focused on developing effective, solution-focused plans at the school and district level.
  • Experience in facilitating professional development, coaching and/or mentorship for staff.
  • Clear understanding of the learning process and ways to adapt or modify curricular outcomes to meet the needs of all students.
  • Exemplary ability to build positive relationships.
  • Effective use of time management.
  • Excellent communication skills; both orally and in writing.
  • Experience planning and working with complex tasks/problems.
  • Understanding and demonstrated experience with action research and evidence-based intervention strategies to support student with complex needs.
  • Evidence of commitment to ongoing professional learning such as PD, grad studies, etc.
Working Conditions
  • This position may require local travel, including the use of a personal vehicle and valid Alberta Driver’s License.

Teachers must agree to respect the confidentiality and personal integrity of students, parents, teachers and other staff. This position requires an original copy of a current clean criminal record check with vulnerable sector and an original copy of a child intervention record check.
