Position: Attractions Program Coordinator (Revised)
Are you a creative leader with a passion for bringing Edmonton’s iconic attractions to life? The City of Edmonton is looking for two Attractions Program Coordinators to join our Community Services department, focusing on facility animation at the Muttart Conservatory and the John Walter Museum!
These technical roles are essential for planning and delivering diverse public programming, from special events and ticketed experiences to school groups and day camps. You will lead dedicated teams, manage facility resources, and collaborate with community partners to ensure a vibrant visitor experience. What will you do?

Develop, plan, and implement a wide array of programming, including public drop-in events, registered programs, camps, school and group programs and exclusive ticketed experiences

Lead, recruit, train, and coach permanent and temporary program staff and volunteers to ensure high-quality service delivery

Oversee administrative operations, such as managing program registration in Intelli and coordinating bookings for various city facilities

Manage event and program budgets, including tracking actual expenditures and procuring necessary supplies

Collaborate with internal collaborators, including Communications, Growers, and Site Operations, to ensure cohesive facility animation and promotion

Evaluate program success through quantitative data like revenue and qualitative feedback from engagement participants

Represent your facility on various committees to support health, safety, and operational excellence

Qualifications

A University Degree in Recreation, History, Education, or a related discipline.

A minimum of one (1) year of experience in program delivery, with a focus on event planning or interpretive, natural, or human history environments.

Assets

Six (6) months of experience in direct staff supervision

Six (6) months of experience managing volunteers

Knowledge of museum best practices (e.g., Alberta Museums Association) or specific knowledge of local and world history related to the fur trade

Understanding of the cultural and historical landscape of Indigenous People

Knowledge of program booking processes and related software

Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, and evaluate staff and volunteers

Strong written and verbal communication skills for interacting with colleagues, contractors, and the public

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while managing competing priorities

Skills required for success

Ability to adapt to changing circumstances and develop original solutions for event logistics and participant needs

Proven capability to initiate recruitment, conduct interviews, and provide ongoing performance coaching

Highly organized with the ability to develop booking policies and manage detailed facility schedules

Understanding of how to connect with diverse organizations to ensure program content is relevant and respectful

Conditions of Employment

Hire is dependent on Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector Check satisfactory to the City of Edmonton, and there may be a cost associated with this requirement

Candidates are required to hold a valid Alberta Class 5 driver’s license (or provincial equivalent) or higher. Candidates will be required to arrange their own transportation and, where appropriate, will be reimbursed in accordance with City of Edmonton policy. This may require the candidate to obtain business-use auto insurance

Ability to work a flexible schedule, including occasional evenings, weekends, or shift work for special events

Positions operate in both indoor and outdoor environments, including unique locations like the Muttart Conservatory pyramids or a living museum
