Mak-a-Mini Childcare is a non‑profit society that offers daycare and preschool programs for children aged 1-5. Our vision is to provide safe, caring, and engaging play experiences that support children's creativity and collaborative exploration of their environment.
Mak-a-Mini's programs are based on the constructivist philosophy of learning and incorporate educational technology to meet the principles of Early Learning. The daycare and preschool programs are play‑based, guided by child‑led experiences, and take into account the age and developmental needs of each child. The programs focus on fostering emotional, physical, social, and cognitive development and use various methods to assess children's learning and development.
Mak-a-Mini is seeking a Daycare Director to join our team at our brand-new daycare center. As the Daycare director, you will oversee the operations of the Daycare. Including managing staff, ensuring a safe and nurturing environment for the children, developing and implementing curriculum, maintaining licensing and regulatory compliance, handling administrative tasks like budgeting and record‑keeping, communicating with parents, and promoting the overall well‑being and growth of the children under their care.
You will also play a crucial role in creating a positive and educational atmosphere for young children while managing the various aspects of running the daycare center.
Major Accountabilities/Responsibilities Complete ongoing training and courses to remain up to date on standards and procedures of the Centre.
Design and implement a safe environment using creative activities that are inclusive, intellectually stimulating and developmentally appropriate and based on observations of children’s interests and skills.
Carry out personal care routines to meet the needs of each child. (Serve meals, change diapers/toileting needs, hand wash, setting up/taking down nap time, etc.)
Ensure that classroom lessons run smoothly through the use of effective classroom management and redirection techniques that keep students safe, engaged, interested, and on task.
Maintain an ongoing developmental record using HiMama of the daily class interaction based on the Flight Framework.
Engage in discussions and schedule meetings with parents/guardians to provide them with pertinent information related to their child's progress and Mak-a-Mini procedures and activities
Report any concerns/emergencies/incidents to the Childcare Supervisor
Other duties as assigned which are deemed necessary to support colleagues in their roles or support Mak-a-Mini in achieving its goals and objectives.
Requirements Early Childhood Educator Level 2 Certification (Child Development Worker) preferred
At least 3 years Early childhood education experience is a must
CPR/First Aid Certificate
Police check – Vulnerable Sector
Skills and Competencies Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Parent communications and parent tours.
Excellent organisational, problem‑solving, and time‑management skills.
Maintain a professional appearance, attitude, and work ethic at all times.
