Overview Part‑Time Elementary Teacher Wanted. Passionate about puns, excited by literature, and eager to help elementary students succeed in all subjects?
We are currently seeking part‑time teacher‑tutors for a role in our learning centre at Oxford Learning Edmonton Summerside. This position is perfect for anyone who loves working with students, enjoys teaching the ins and outs of language and social studies, and is passionate about building skills in these areas.
Hours count! Gain valuable teaching experience. Teacher‑tutors at Oxford Learning do not have to lesson plan before class, as all lessons are pre‑planned. Applicants will be fully trained in our proprietary philosophy and methods.
Responsibilities Teach up to 3 students at a time at different levels.
Deliver in‑person instruction following the Oxford Learning methodologies and philosophies.
Fill in post‑lesson notes and provide daily student communication updates.
Maintain a friendly and professional manner at all times.
Support students in developing self‑confidence and self‑esteem, helping them overcome academic hurdles.
Participate in fun staff events, ongoing training opportunities, frequent check‑ins and feedback, and company growth opportunities.
Qualifications Bachelor's degree or similar certification in a relevant field.
Teaching certification an asset.
Good knowledge of the current Kindergarten to Grade 9 curriculum.
Some experience teaching or tutoring at a Kindergarten to Grade 9 (or equivalent) level.
Strong English written and oral communication skills and the ability to guide students’ understanding.
Ability to multitask and balance working with up to three students at a time.
Mandatory vulnerable sector screening.
Car‑access to the Summerside location (must be able to commute locally).
Commitment to after‑school and evening hours Mon–Thu (4:00pm – 8:00pm) and Saturday mornings (9:00am – 1:00pm). A commitment until the end of the school year is preferred; continuing through the summer is even better.
Schedule & Compensation Part‑time; $17 per hour.
Evenings: 4:00pm – 8:00pm, Monday to Thursday.
Saturday mornings: 9:00am – 1:00pm.
In‑person only; relocation packages are not available.
