Temporary Indigenous Learning Coach Position

Location: Morinville

Make a difference at Sturgeon Public Schools as a temporary Indigenous Learning Coach. Focus on student success and integrate Indigenous perspectives in education across the district.

This part-time role based in Morinville aims to enhance educational experiences for Indigenous students by addressing barriers to achievement. Collaborate with educators, support staff, and community partners to promote Indigenous knowledge and cultural responsiveness in classrooms for grades K-12. Your engagement is vital for fostering inclusivity and understanding within the school community.

Key Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with teachers to incorporate Indigenous knowledge

• Mentor staff on culturally responsive teaching

• Support the establishment of engagement initiatives with Indigenous communities

• Foster positive relationships with families and students

• Facilitate cultural awareness and professional development sessions

Requirements:

• Valid Alberta Teaching Certificate required

• Experience with Indigenous heritage and cultures

• Ability to assess educational data on Indigenous learners

• Comfortable in diverse classroom settings

• Strong communication and organizational skills
