Overview

Oxford Learning Edmonton Windermere is seeking part-time High School Math & Science Tutor in Edmonton, Alberta.

Employment Type:

Part Time. Pay: $18.00 per hour.

Motivated by mathematics? Sharp with science? Excited by equations in both fields? Eager to help students succeed in math and science? This position is ideal for individuals who love working with students, enjoy numbers and equations, and are passionate about helping others build these skills.

Tutor-teachers do not have to plan lessons before class, as all lessons are pre-planned. Applicants will be fully trained in our proprietary philosophy and methods.

Location/Work Arrangement
:
This role is in-person and requires commuting to the Edmonton Windermere location. Relocation packages are not available. This is not an online position.

Vulnerable sector screening is mandatory.

We encourage you to apply if you have the majority of the following requirements:

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or similar certification in a relevant field
  • Fourth year university students with extensive tutoring experience will be considered
  • Teaching certification is an asset
  • Good knowledge of current Grades 9-12 math and science curriculum, including senior math (advanced functions, algebra, trigonometry, calculus, vectors) and physics, chemistry, biology
Experience
  • Some experience teaching/tutoring math at Grade 9–12 (or equivalent)
  • Strong English written and oral communication skills
  • Strong math skills and ability to guide students’ understanding
  • Ability to multitask and balance working with up to three students at a time
Responsibilities (Position Details)
  • Work directly with students as an Interactive Coach with responsibilities including teaching up to 3 students at a time at different levels
  • Teach online and in-person sessions
  • Follow Oxford Learning methodologies and philosophies
  • Filling in post-lesson notes and completing daily student communication updates
  • Maintain a friendly and professional manner at all times
