YMCA Child Care Outdoor Play Leader

Lead the charge for child-led outdoor play as the Outdoor Play Specialist at YMCA Edmonton. This full-time hybrid position is pivotal in developing outdoor pedagogy standards.

In this 16-month term role, the Outdoor Play Specialist will establish a comprehensive outdoor play strategy within YMCA Child Care programs. Working in concert with educators and community partners, you’ll develop and implement tools that enhance outdoor learning experiences. Your dedication to child-led exploration will create enriching environments where children can thrive.

Key Responsibilities:

• Create outdoor play standards and best practices

• Mentor and coach Child Care educators and leaders

• Facilitate capacity-building workshops and events

• Support the implementation of the Free to Play project

• Assess outdoor spaces to improve child engagement

Requirements:

• Degree in Early Childhood Education or similar field

• At least five years of experience mentoring children

• Background in environmental education or outdoor teaching

• Strong communication and relationship skills

• Preferred Alberta Child Care Certification
