Substitute Arabic & Islamic Studies Teacher

The Edmonton Islamic Academy (EIA) is a growing and dynamic school community. Working at EIA provides opportunities for both personal and professional growth. We are a large Pre-K to Grade 12 school serving more than 1,400 students while maintaining a welcoming, small-school community atmosphere.

Currently seeking Substitute Arabic and Islamic Studies Teachers to join our team.

• Assume the responsibilities of the Arabic or Islamic Studies Teacher when the regular teacher is absent
• Communicate, collaborate, and cooperate effectively with classroom teachers, colleagues, administration, and students
• Deliver prepared course content and provide academic support and student supervision throughout the school day
• Maintain appropriate classroom management and support a positive learning environment
• Maintain and respect the confidentiality of student, staff, and school information
• Follow and support all school policies, procedures, and expectations
• Perform other related duties as assigned by the classroom teacher or Assistant Principal

• Ability to adapt to a changing environment with a flexible, versatile, and positive approach to new assignments
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills when working with administration, students, staff, and parents
• Ability to effectively deliver pre-planned lessons and support the Alberta Education curriculum
• Strong classroom management skills
• Respect for and understanding of Islamic faith, values, and culture
