Position: GIS Technician for Treaty Negotiations
Location: Leduc

Expand treaty negotiation capacities as a GIS Technician. Participate in building a robust GIS Unit to support land and resource assessments for strategic governance.

In this part-time role, your technical skills in GIS will be essential for the integration of lands inventory information vital for treaty negotiations. Collaborating closely with the Senior Negotiator and community stakeholders, you will be responsible for data preparation, map production, and maintaining spatial datasets. Training will ensure you effectively contribute to the initiatives underway.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain GIS mapping databases

• Create digital mapping products to assist negotiations

• Collaborate with external and internal departments

• Present data and maps at community meetings

• Write interim evaluations and summary reports

Requirements:

• Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent

• Basic understanding of GIS principles and applications

• Proficient in Microsoft systems required

• Excellent detail orientation and organization

• Commitment to learning and initiative in problem-solving
