Our client, a major Oil and Gas company, is looking for a Project Outage Coordinator to join their team on 1-year contract. This person can work from Fort McMurray or from Edmonton (with site travel).

Role Accountability
The Project Outage Coordinator coordinates outage, turnaround, CSU, and project readiness across assigned terminal and pipeline assets to support safe, reliable, planned execution.

The role integrates Maintenance, Operations, Projects, Planning and Scheduling, AMR, Engineering, Reliability, contractors, and field teams to ensure scope, schedule, resources, risks, turnover, and closeout requirements are ready before execution and handover.

Success is measured by:

Safe execution with no significant safety, environmental, or process safety events.

Outage and project scopes are risk-ranked, planned, resourced, material-ready, permit-ready, and integrated into the 52-week schedule.

Maintenance readiness items, PMs, asset data, spares, job plans, deficiencies, and turnover deliverables are closed before start-up or handover.

Stakeholders are aligned on scope, schedule, risk, ownership, and execution constraints.

Execution delays, rework, break-in work, start-up issues, and post-turnover maintenance burden are reduced.

Coordinate outage, turnaround, CSU, and project readiness across assigned assets.

Integrate outage and maintenance scopes into the 52-week planning and scheduling process.

Coordinate Maintenance and Operations input into project development, outage planning, commissioning, start-up, and readiness reviews.

Track scope, priorities, job plans, materials, permits, isolations, contractor support, vendor support, AMR, PMs, asset data, spares, deficiencies, and turnover requirements.

Provide readiness updates covering scope, schedule risk, resources, safety, cost exposure, open decisions, and escalations.

Capture lessons learned to improve planning, execution, turnover quality, and asset reliability.

Responsibilities
Planning/Readiness

Coordinate safe and disciplined readiness for assigned outage, turnaround, project, and CSU work.

Identify, prioritize, and track maintenance, reliability, inspection, regulatory, operational, and capital-driven outage scopes.

Maintain an integrated readiness tracker for scope, owners, schedule, resources, materials, permits, isolations, risks, deficiencies, and closeout.

Provide planning support of scope for assigned outage, turnaround, project and CSU.

Identify resource requirements for planning, scheduling and execution of identified scopes.

Work with Planners, Schedulers, Operations, Projects, Engineering, AMR, Reliability, contractors, and vendors to confirm readiness and execution requirements.

Build and maintain a work process to identify, approve and track added work scope identified after scope freeze.

Execution Phase

Coordinate contractors and field resources for execution of scheduled activities.

Track identified added scope through added work scope process.

Update execution schedule daily with field execution progress.

Participate in PSSR, PCCR, TCCC, construction turnover, CSU, and operational readiness where maintenance is impacted.

Accountable for monitoring schedule progress and communication to stakeholders on forecast of completion.

Escalate unresolved safety, material, resource, schedule, documentation, PM, deficiency, or turnover risks.

Support closeout quality, lessons learned, asset records, PM readiness, spare parts readiness, and outstanding risk communication.

Business Acumen

Strong understanding of maintenance, reliability, outage management, project execution, CSU, turnover, and work management in terminal and pipeline operations.

Ability to translate scope, operational constraints, asset risk, AMR requirements, and reliability concerns into readiness actions.

Ability to manage priorities across projects, outages, planning, field execution, operations, contractors, vendors, and support teams.

Strong understanding of work identification, planning, scheduling, execution, closeout, backlog governance, schedule freeze discipline, and readiness reviews.

Ability to identify risks early, define mitigations, assign owners, and escalage before execution failure occurs.

Strong judgment in prioritizing work based on safety, environment, compliance, reliability, production, people, cost, and execution feasibility.

Systems and Planning Tools Expectations

Working knowledge of Maximo for work order review, outage scope tracking, job package readiness, PM integration, asset data, deficiencies, and closeout.

Working knowledge of 52-week planning, backlog readiness, schedule freeze discipline, resource forecasting, and outage readiness checks.

Ability to use tracking tools to maintain visibility to scope, owners, dates, risks, actions, decisions, materials, contractors, deficiencies, and closeout.

Ability to interpret drawings, P&IDs, equipment lists, data sheets, commissioning documentation, turnover packages, maintenance records, and project deliverables.
