Edmonton HDD Operator at Black & McDonald

Contribute to innovative projects as an HDD Operator in the Edmonton Utilities team at Black & McDonald. Your primary focus will be the safe operation of directional drills for underground utility installations.

In this critical position, you will work under the Project Manager’s guidance, ensuring adherence to safety regulations and operational accuracy. A strong background of at least 5 years in HDD equipment use is essential, particularly with models like the Vermeer D20 x 22 Series 3. You will also be responsible for daily coordination with crew members and thorough pre-operation inspections.

Key Responsibilities:

• Safely operate directional drilling equipment

• Read and interpret site plans and utility specifications

• Log and perform pre-operation safety inspections

• Collaborate with drivers and fellow operators daily

• May assist with general labor tasks as required

Requirements:

• High School diploma is required

• Minimum of 5 years’ experience with HDD rigs

• Class 1 (or
3) license with Air Brakes

• Clean driving record and CSTS certification necessary

• Willingness to travel for work assignments
