Responsibilities
What your day will look like
Field Work
Coordinating and completing field programs for contaminated sites projects, including Phase I, II & III Environmental Site Assessments, hydrogeological investigations, soil/groundwater/surface water/sediment/soil vapour sampling programs, and contaminated site remediation projects.Documenting field activities, site health and safety meetings, among others in paper and digital formats.Preparing sampling plans, collecting and compiling field data, digital geo-referenced data, and field notes.Contributing to environmental monitoring tasks on construction and industrial sites.Assisting in preparation of environmental site assessment reports, including: compilation and analysis of data, borehole logs and test pit logs.Assisting with designated hazardous substance surveys including asbestos and lead sampling.Operating, calibrating, and maintaining project specific equipment.Project Coordination
Coordinating with laboratories, clients, subcontractors, third-party stakeholders.Assisting with report writing and preparation of technical memos, letters, reports, spreadsheets and figuresProviding assistance to project managers, engineers, environmental scientists and others on a variety of multidisciplinary design teams (including project engineers, planners, biologists, technologists, , with the opportunity to develop into a Project Manager.Learning and Development
Committing to self-development and ongoing learning and professional development.Contributing to Dillon’s corporate profile through active participation in professional associations and committees.Qualifications
What you will need to succeed
A degree in Geology, Geoscience, Geological Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related environmental discipline.Entry level to 2 years of experience in environmental consulting and/or related work experience.Strong work ethic with genuine interest in environmental consulting and field work.Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication, and organizational skills.Exceptional problem solving and critical thinking skills.A valid G driver’s license.Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions.Willingness to work remotely in the field for up to two weeks.Ability to work overtime when required.Ability to work alone in the field with guided direction or partial supervision.Proficiency in data entry, data compilation and the management of databases.Proficiency in the writing of technical reports.Proficiency in Microsoft Office (MS Word, MS Excel and PowerPoint).Experience
Experience in any of the following would be considered an asset
Eligibility to register for a professional designation (or member in training).Knowledge of Phased Environmental Site Assessments, remediation and/or hazardous building material surveys.Knowledge of relevant provincial and federal environmental legislation, regulations and guidelines.Knowledge of field procedures relating to borehole drilling and monitoring well installation, soil, sediment, surface water and groundwater sampling, soil and groundwater remediation, and construction monitoring.Experience working around heavy equipment, including drill rigs and excavators.Proficiency in ESdat, Surfer, gINT or database abilities will be an asset.Why choose Dillon
