Job Overview:
Grizzly Trek is currently seeking one Commissioning LOTO & Permitting Coordinator to join our team at an Alberta industrial project site.

This is a contract position, ideally suited to an individual committed to excellence and safety.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the Permit Center, with a focus on the issuance, control, and organization of Safety Work Permits (SWPs) and energy isolations (LOTOs) to support safe execution during commissioning and start-up activities.

Responsibilities:
Manage the Permit Center, especially the issuance and organization of Safety Work Permits (SWPs) and energy isolations (LOTOs).

Adhere to all project site-specific safety directives, initiatives, standards, policies, and procedures.

Act as a Safety Ambassador by planning and participating as a proactive safety leader in site drills, inspections, safety meetings, and toolbox sessions.

Ensure all accidents/incidents are promptly reported.

In the first three months: rapidly learn the CSU Execution Plan and project schedule; establish relationships with key contacts; work with CSU Commissioning Coordinators to understand systems/boundaries and define required LOTO/permitting materials; complete SWP training; read and understand the SIMOPS Plan and role expectations.

Coordinate Permit Center readiness with Construction Site Services (layout and furniture requirements), noting the Permit Center supports both construction hazardous work permits and CSU/Operations SWPs.

Ensure CSU Permit Issuers manage the SWP process according to EH&S standards from request through execution and final sign-off.

Ensure SWPs are completed to a high standard, including thorough risk analysis for high-risk tasks (hot work, confined space entry, electrical isolations) and that all documentation/signatures are in place prior to approval.

Energy Isolation: verify all LOTO/energy isolations are in place prior to work; maintain an organized system for active LOTO’s; assist with installing LOTO’s in the field as required.

Job Site Monitoring: ensure permit issuers perform required pre-work inspections and verify job readiness.

Auditing: conduct regular field audits to confirm work complies with SWP conditions and complete Basic Safety Process (BSP) forms during audits.

SIMOPS: lead daily Permit Center planning meetings with construction and SWP issuers to identify and resolve SIMOPS conflicts in adjacent areas.

Maintain and communicate an active list of SIMOPS-related information (site-wide bulletins, notices of energization, CSU-owned systems list, controlled-area plot plans, and live pipe rack commodity plot plans).

Qualifications:

Seasoned operator with extensive Permit Center experience on major projects.

Familiar with SIMOPS phase protocols as sites transition from Construction to Operations.

One of the following (or equivalent safety/operations experience):
