Base pay range

CA $75,000.00/yr - CA$/yr

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Designer to lead HVAC and Plumbing design projects for a variety of new construction and renovation projects. This role requires a motivated professional with strong technical expertise and leadership skills to guide project teams and ensure high-quality, cost-effective design solutions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the detailed mechanical design for multiple projects and delegate tasks to team members.
  • Supervise and mentor Mechanical Designers and Intermediate Mechanical Engineers, reviewing their work before submission to senior management.
  • Provide technical guidance to clients and collaborate with other sub-consultants.
  • Attend design and coordination meetings as required.
  • Conduct construction site reviews to ensure design intent is met.
  • Prepare schematic design, design development, and construction documentation.
  • Analyze client proposals and specifications to determine optimal, cost-effective solutions.
  • Select mechanical equipment in collaboration with suppliers and manufacturers.
  • Peer review colleagues’ designs and drawings for quality assurance.
  • Coordinate mechanical systems with other disciplines (architectural, structural, electrical, civil, and fire).
  • Determine project design and drafting hours, and communicate resource needs to the Project Manager.
  • Identify additional service requirements and associated fees in a timely manner.
  • Maintain project schedules and budgets, tracking progress and resource utilization.
  • Assist contract administration by reviewing shop drawings, RFIs, design changes, and associated costs.
  • Continuously improve workflows, design standards, and contribute to achieving company goals.
Qualifications & Experience
  • 5–10+ years of experience in mechanical building systems design.
  • Strong understanding of building systems integration and how mechanical systems interact with architectural, structural, civil, electrical, and fire systems.
  • Knowledge of current codes and standards, including plumbing and building codes.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, REVIT (MEP), and Bluebeam.
