Your Opportunity at SECURE

As our Chemical Treatment Specialist, you will support and advance the chemical treatment and neutralization operations at our Redwater facility. In this fast-paced role, you’ll ensure safe handling and optimization of inbound and outbound waste streams and help mitigate commercial and operational risk at the field level.

As the Chemical Treatment Specialist, you will be part of a collaborative and safety-driven team that takes pride in operational excellence. Work Environment

At our Redwater facility, you will work closely with operations and support teams in a collaborative setting. This role operates on a Monday to Friday schedule, working five days per week, with flexibility to travel, support on-call requirements, and adjust hours as needed to meet operational demands.

A Day in The Life
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for SECURE Redwater chemical treatment and neutralization processes, delivering facility training and contributing to ongoing program development to drive continuous improvement across Redwater operations.
  • Receive, log, prepare, and analyze client samples, including but not limited to acids, bases, oils, water, and produced fluids.

  • Perform bench-scale neutralizations of acids and bases, then support operations for large-scale neutralization.

  • Support training and competency development, as well as the ongoing review and development of operational SOPs.

  • Maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot laboratory instrumentation and ensure operational readiness of all equipment.

  • Mentor the operations team and support high-performance treatment and neutralization practices, including chemical purchasing and inventory management.

  • Act as a field liaison for blend plans and operational quality initiatives, assisting operations in maintaining balance and supporting strong customer relationships.

  • Support field-level issue resolution, identifying root causes and ensuring timely corrective actions.

  • Assist in reporting and maintaining treatment and neutralization performance metrics.

  • Provide hands-on operational support as needed, stepping in to assist the Redwater team and contribute to business needs.

Skills, Experience & Qualifications
  • 3–5 years of experience in waste management, environmental services, or related environments.

  • Experience supporting quality compliance programs, SOP development, and operational quality systems.

  • Diploma in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering Technology, Environmental Technology, or a related field considered an asset.

  • Working knowledge of ASTM quality determination, hydrocarbon testing, sampling systems (API 8.2), and blending practices.

  • Valid H2S Alive and First Aid certification.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).

  • Strong analytical, communication, and decision-making skills.

  • Safety-focused, detail-oriented, and able to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

  • Willingness to travel, work flexible hours, and support on-call requirements.
