This position requires an understanding of municipal systems codes and standards and the ability to review and interpret drawings and specifications in civil, structural, and mechanical disciplines.
Field work is a major component of this role, with responsibilities including contract administration, coordinating contractor enquiries, shop drawings, RFIs, progress certificates, and meeting records. You may be required to travel for short field reviews or extended periods onsite.
Responsibilities Perform field reviews for construction projects and assist with construction management activities.
Review conformance of construction work and troubleshoot site issues with engineering teams.
Coordinate contractor enquiries, RFIs, shop drawings, and progress payment certificates.
Attend and contribute to construction progress meetings; prepare meeting minutes and records.
Provide onsite field reviews and prepare/review reports and documents related to construction contracts.
Conduct daily/weekly/monthly field reviews and document progress, site issues, and design conflicts.
Provide full-time onsite resident engineering field review services on select projects.
Complete field reviews focused on civil, structural, and mechanical works and submit daily site reports.
Review construction documents, drawings, and specifications; liaise between the engineering office, contractors, and clients.
Coordinate with subconsultants as necessary and ensure quality assurance/quality control compliance.
Maintain a photographic journal of construction projects with proper titles, dates, and descriptions.
Work with project managers and the engineering team to successfully execute projects.
Assist with commissioning of water and wastewater infrastructure.
Qualifications This position is applicable to Engineers, Engineers-In-Training, Technologists-In-Training, and Certified Engineering Technologists.
Minimum 1-5 years’ experience in consulting engineering, specifically in water/wastewater engineering. Candidates with less experience may be considered based on specific skills.
Educational and professional standing requirements are based on experience; eligible combinations include:
Engineering Technologists: Valid Diploma in Engineering Technology; in good standing with ASET as a registered Technologist-In-Training (T.T.) or as a Certified Engineering Technologist (C.E.T.) .
Engineers: Valid Bachelor’s degree in Engineering; preferred in Civil, Civil-Environmental, or Mechanical Engineering; in good standing with APEGA as an Engineer-In-Training (E.I.T.) or as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.).
Possess a valid Class 5 driver’s licence.
Locations and Travel Office locations include project sites within Alberta and our office in Edmonton, AB. Travel to project sites throughout Alberta with overnight stays may be required, and some assignments may be extended.
